The NRP is an educational program designed to teach individuals and teams who may be required to resuscitate newborn babies. Completion of an NRP course does not mean that an individual is competent to perform the skills of neonatal resuscitation. Roles and Responsibilities of the NRP Provider

  • Deliver care according to current national standards of care relevant to their profession and experience, recognizing that NRP is an educational tool and does not imply or regulate clinical competence.
  • Review and perform all components of the NRP Course on a regular basis, including new guidelines.
  • Know their own limitations, and seek resources and assistance when required.
Complete the online exam which covers all 11 chapters of the neonatal resuscitation. It has unlimited attempts. The online exam can be purchase from the Canadian Pediatric Society Website.
NRP eSim®is a new online neonatal resuscitation simulation exercise required for achieving NRP Provider status with the 7th Edition. This new methodology allows learners to integrate the NRP algorithmic steps in a virtual environment.
In Canada, the eSim® will not be mandatory; however, it will be available through Healthstream, the company that administers the NRP online examination. You may access Practice eSim® to decide if you would like to purchase it with your exam.

Course Requirements

Meet the registration guidelines.
Pre-read the NRP textbook.
Complete the online NRP exam within 30 days of the in-person course.
Complete the NRP in-person course with us.

Course Resources & Tips

The online exam must be written before the Provider course (within 90 days prior). If your exam is greater than 90 days to attending, you will have to purchase a new exam and attend another course. Certificates of completion must be presented to the instructor the day of the course (emailed or printed). If they are not received attendance to the course may not be permitted.
Please note both online exam and the practical component must be completed for certification.
